Welcome to Year 6!
Your teachers are Mrs McHugh and Mr Boyd.
The four purposes of the new curriculum for Wales inform our teaching. Our learning experiences enable our pupils to be:
- ambitious, capable learners who undertake research and evaluate critically what they find and are ready to learn throughout their lives
- enterprising, creative contributors who give of their energy and skills so that other people will benefit and are ready to play a full part in life and work
- ethical, informed citizens who show their commitment to the sustainability of the planet and are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world
- healthy, confident individuals who have the skills and knowledge to manage everyday life as independently as they can and are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
Intentional and Prophetic - Virtues
Pupils in our school are growing to be intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth. They are prophetic in the example they set to others. It’s about trying to achieve a balance where you know what is important for you and what you want to spend your time and energies doing. Jesus Christ was a person who loved intentionally and is a good model to follow.
Being prophetic is about being seen to do good and about speaking out for what is right. Good news needs to be announced.
Whole school information and important updates will be published under 'Latest News' and sent electronically via Schoop and Twitter. This can be accessed under the 'Parents' tab and the most recent updates will be displayed on our homepage and Twitter feed. Please follow @StFrancisCDF
Photos will now be displayed for each class in the 'Gallery'. These can be found under the 'Children' tab.
The Schoop app is used to instantly send school notifications to mobile devices. To stay up to date with the latest school news and see upcoming events, parents are required to download the app. Instructions on how to do this can be found under the 'Parents' tab and by then navigating to 'Key Information'.
Our Schoop ID is 17754
Children are expected to read at home to support their learning on a weekly basis. Your child will be given a reading book and reading record.
The children will also be tested on their spellings throughout the year. The children are expected to learn their spellings in preparation for each test.
